Today’s post comes with a touch of sadness for me.  The ladies in charge of the Dynamic Duos challenge have announced that the current challenge, #100, will be the last one.  I was fortunate enough to get started playing along with the Dynamic Duos right from their very first challenge, and I’ve enjoyed participating in each and every one of them.  OK, there was one time where my internet crashed and I wasn’t able to get my card linked before the challenge closed, and then another time there was a kink in the system and the challenge closed earlier than usual – but I’ve made at least one card for each of the DD color combinations.

This week’s color combo is actually very much like DD #2.  They’ve simply added a third color to the combo.  So I’ve reprised the card I made for challenge #2:)  The debossed strip on today’s card is, I have to confess, left over from the original card!  The layout is the same, and I’ve kept the love theme of the original but used different stamps to represent it.  This card will be donated to Operation Write Home, just as many of my other DD challenge cards have been.

I appreciate having the Dynamic Duos nudge me out of my comfort zone several times over the last two years to try different color combinations.  I’m also honored to have been featured as their Diva of the Week in May 2013 and twice as a Dynamic Darling (June 2013 and December 2013).  Thanks so much for the fun and creativity, ladies!

Supplies:
Stamps: A Birdie Told Me (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Whisper White (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: Smoky Slate, So Saffron (SU)
Other: markers (Copic); Victoria embossing folder (ProvoCraft)

Today’s card combines Dynamic Duos challenge #98 with Seize the Sketch challenge #18.  I’ve used them to create a birthday card.  I took the liberty of squashing the sketch into a landscape-oriented layout.  This card is a little more layered than most of the ones I make, and I had to use a double layer of dimensional adhesive to attach the punched flower, but that’s OK because I’ll be using this one personally instead of donating it to Operation Write Home.  It’s been a while since I’ve used this much thickness on a card!  I have to admit it felt good to do something different.

Thanks for stopping by today!  All comments are read and appreciated – and I apologize for my blog’s spam catcher program that tends to flag comments from outside of the United States.

Supplies:
Stamps: Birthday Greetings (Gina K. Designs)
Cardstock: So Saffron, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Tea Party designer paper (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: Wisteria Wonder (SU)
Other: Spring Bouquet Flower punch, Almost Amethyst stitched ribbon, dimensionals (SU); petite oval and petite scalloped oval Nestabilities dies (Spellbinders); mini brad (Making Memories)

Just a quick post to share a card combining Dynamic Duos challenge #97 with AEIHeartU challenge #4.  I created a randomly watercolored background with the Dynamic Duos colors, added a sentiment and a couple die cuts with a brad, and corner mats – and there it is.  As much as I love the look of watercoloring, I don’t like the way the water makes the cardstock wrinkle, and I just wasn’t in the mood to pull out the iron to try to flatten it. Even if this isn’t one of my favorite cards I’ve ever made, it’s still a good one for Operation Write Home.

Challenge 4

Thanks for stopping by today!

Just a quick post to share a card combining the current Seize the Sketch layout with the latest Dynamic Duos color combination.  Well, actually, the Dynamic Duos combo is half my own creation – because the challenge is from the fifth Saturday of March, the challenge team chooses one color and the participants get to pick a color to pair with it.  They gave us Gumball Green, and I’ve decided to use Real Red with it to create another love-themed card for Operation Write Home.

That’s it for today.  Thanks for stopping by! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Unfrogettable (Stampin’ Up)
Cardstock: Kraft, Real Red, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla (SU)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento); Real Red marker (SU)
Other: Icon Fill in the Blank Die (Avery Elle); Premier colored pencils (Prismacolor); odorless mineral spirits (Hampton Arts); Heart Blocks embossing folder (ProvoCraft)

Today’s card combines the sketch for this week’s CAS – Colours and Sketches challenge with the colors from the Dynamic Duos challenge that’s about to end.  I’ve taken the liberty of turning the sketch on its side.  The butterflies were stamped, fussy cut, and then attached to the card panel, with the bodies glued directly onto the panel and the wings popped up with dimensional adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out what the rest of the CAS – Colours and Sketches Design Team has made.  Then show us your own take on the sketch!  Link your card at the challenge site by 1:00 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, April 2.  We’d love to have you join us!

Supplies:
Stamps: Priceless (Stampin’ Up); Tag Lines (Gina K. Designs)
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum (SU)
Other: dimensionals (SU)

Today’s card is a quick, clean and simple one using the colors for the current Dynamic Duos challenge.  For the block behind the vine, I inked up the stamp with More Mustard, stamped it off on a piece of scrap paper, then “rock and rolled” the ink pad along the edges of the stamp to get the color variation.  The tiny Prima flowers were a last minute decision, and I’m glad I went with it because they really do perk up the card.  This card is going into my stash for Operation Write Home.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Comments are always read and appreciated!  :)

Hello!  This week Louise has drawn up a simple clean and layered sketch for our challenge at CAS – Colours and Sketches.  I’ve decided to combine it with the Dynamic Duos color challenge that ends today.  The combination of sketch and color challenge provided me with a nice way to use this older designer paper.  A flower from a retired stamp set seemed to coordinate well with it. The orientation of the flower made me feel that I should use the mirror image of the sketch, and put the vertical designer paper panel toward the right of the card.  I decided to add a rhinestone to the center of the flower to give the card a wee bit of pizazz.  The sentiment is one that is always in demand at Operation Write Home.

Be sure to visit the CAS – Colours and Sketches blog to see what the rest of the design team has done with this sketch.  Then create your own card using the sketch as inspiration.  Share it via the linky tool on the C&CS site by 1:00 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, March 19.  We’d love to see what you make! :)

All supplies for today’s card are from Stampin’ Up.
Stamps: A Greeting for All Reasons, Three Little Words
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Delicate Dots designer paper
Ink: Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride
Other: rhinestone

This is just a quick post to share a card I made for Dynamic Duos challenge #92 and Freshly Made Sketches challenge #126.  In retrospect I probably should have made the tilted panels a bit larger, but oh well – I think you can still tell it’s the same sketch, just turned on its side.

And there’s another one for my Operation Write Home stash!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I read and appreciate every comment – and I apologize for the spam catcher’s tendency to flag comments from blogs outside the United States.

All supplies are from Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: For the Birds, So Happy for You
Cardstock: Kraft, Very Vanilla, Midnight Muse, Rose Red Prints designer paper
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: dimensionals, Crumb Cake seam binding; Labels One Nestabilities die (Spellbinders); markers (Copic)

Hello!  Today’s card is a very CAS one for the current Dynamic Duos challenge.  It just might include a sneak peek for the CAS – Colours and Sketches challenge that goes live on Thursday, too.  :)

I’ve created a one layer card, stamping the tulips in a border and then coloring them with Copics.  The bunny was stamped on a scrap of white cardstock, colored, fussy cut, and attached to the card with dimensional adhesive.  Quick and easy!  I opted to not put a sentiment on this card.  Since it is going to be sent to Operation Write Home soon, and it’s getting pretty close to their deadline for mailing Easter cards to them, I wanted the card to still be useful throughout the rest of this spring and early summer.

Thanks for stopping by today! Your comments are always read and appreciated.

Supplies:
Stamps: Happy Easter (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: dimensionals (Stampin’ Up); markers (Copic)

Today’s card is a quick one I made for Operation Write Home.  The colors are from this week’s challenge at Dynamic Duos.  Since OWH needs love-themed cards all year round, I wanted to make one that didn’t look like a Valentine and that could be sent to anyone of any age.  I stamped the penguin on a scrap of white cardstock, colored him, and fussy cut him.  I drew a line across the card base to give the penguin something to stand on, attached him to the card, and added a sentiment.  Fast, easy, and (if I say so myself) pretty darn cute!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you’re having a great week.

Supplies:
Stamps: Critters in the Snow (Lawn Fawn); Year Round Sentiments (Hero Arts)
Cardstock: Daffodil Delight (Stampin’ Up); Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic)

Hello!  Today’s card combines the current Dynamic Duos color challenge with the Lawnscaping challenge that expires tonight.  If the little birds with hearts seem familiar to you, yes, you’re right, I did feature them in a post last week.  The ones on today’s card started out as an attempt at last week’s card but then I had an “oops” moment when I stamped last week’s sentiment, so I set the stamped strip aside.  I was able to cut off the oops and use the good stuff for today’s card.  No sense in wasting the good stamping!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Comments are always read and appreciated – they really do brighten my day!

Supplies:
Stamps: Bannerific, My Silly Valentine (Lawn Fawn); So Much Love (Lizzie Anne Designs)
Cardstock: Pistachio Pudding, Blushing Bride (Stampin’ Up); Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic); Swiss Dots embossing folder (ProvoCraft)

Good morning!  Since it’s the first Monday of the month, it’s time for a new challenge at Cards in Envy!  Our challenge should put you in a Valentine mood because the theme for the next two weeks is “Love is in the Air.”

I’ve taken the theme pretty literally with the stamps that I chose. The images and sentiment are from three different Lawn Fawn sets, but they all work very nicely with each other.  The layout is from CAS(E) this Sketch (but I’ve turned it on its side), and I’ve used the colors for this week’s Dynamic Duos challenge.  I’ll be including the card in the next shipment I send to Operation Write Home.

So now it’s your turn! Check out the Cards in Envy site for all the challenge details and to see what the rest of the design team has made. Then share your creation(s) with us by 7:00 p.m. eastern time Sunday, February 16. We’d love to have you play along with us!

Supplies:
Stamps: Bannerific, My Silly Valentine, You’ve Got Mail (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Real Red Core’dinations, Island Indigo, Basic Black (Stampin’ Up); Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic)

This is just a quick card that I made for the Dynamic Duos challenge.  They’re repeating one of their color combos from a while ago – Basic Black and Melon Mambo – so I hope they don’t mind that I’ve made a card following the same basic design as one I’ve done in the past.  This time I’ve turned the layout from landscape to portrait orientation, and I’ve changed the stamps used for the card.  To color the stars, I used the closest Copic marker I had to Melon Mambo along with the colorless blender to add some color gradient.

And there’s another card to add to my stash for Operation Write Home!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Supplies:
Stamps: So Much To Say (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Melon Mambo (Stampin’ Up); Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic)

Hello!  Today marks the beginning of another sketch challenge at CAS – Colours and Sketches.  This time Karen has us working with blocks – which really leaves a lot to the imagination as to how you want to use them!

I’ve decided to combine this challenge with the Dynamic Duos challenge that ends today.  They’re asking us to use soft shades of aqua and pink.  I’ve run some Pink Pirouette cardstock through an embossing folder for the bottom block of the sketch.  For the vertical block, I’ve chosen a piece of designer paper that’s Pool Party and Very Vanilla, and colored in the centers of the flowers with a pink marker to tie all the colors together.   I’ve used both colors to stamp the sentiment so that I could highlight the last word.  The blocks of color also work for the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge, and the pastel colors tie into this week’s OWH Midweek Throwdown challenge.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the CAS – Colours and Sketches design team did with this sketch. Then show us what you can make with it! You can link your card to the challenge blog until 1:00 p.m. eastern time Wednesday, January 29. Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies:
Stamps: You (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Pure Luxury Vanilla (Gina K. Designs); Pink Pirouette, Spice Cake designer paper (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Pool Party (SU)
Other: Paisley embossing folder (ProvoCraft); marker (Copic)

If a color could be a nemesis, I think mine is Stampin’ Up’s Summer Starfruit.  There’s just something about it that makes me not like it very much, and as a result, I have a hard time working with it.  So the current Dynamic Duos challenge of using Summer Starfruit and Garden Green has definitely been a challenge for me.  (Besides the fact that it’s very similar to a Dynamic Duos challenge from last summer.)

However, I finally came up with this rather CAS card for the challenge.  I’ve used OWH Stars & Stamps sketch #205 for the layout, but modified the circle into a rectangle.

Thanks for stopping by today!  :)

Supplies:
Stamps: For the Birds (Stampin’ Up)
Cardstock: Summer Starfruit, Garden Green, Sycamore Street designer paper (SU); Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic)
