Hello!  It’s the fourth Thursday of the month, which means it’s sketch time again at CAS – Colours and Sketches.  I’ve enjoyed hosting and coming up with the challenge ideas during February and seeing what the challenge participants have been creating!

This week we have a sketch challenge for you.  I gave a sneak peek of the sketch in yesterday’s post – but for that card, I turned the sketch on its side and then flipped it horizontally to use the mirror image of it.  It worked out better that way because of the direction the bunny image is facing.   For today’s card, I’ve used the sketch in almost its original format.  I added a layer for a bit more color.  I’ve used a butterfly in place of the starburst shape; you are welcome to use any non-rectangular shape there.  I’ve stamped swirly flourishes on both the banner element and the butterfly, and I added some sponging around the edges of the butterfly.  The butterfly’s wings are popped up with dimensional adhesive, but the body is glued directly to the banner.  A few rhinestones add a bit of sparkle to the card.  I took the color scheme from this week’s OWH Midweek Throwdown challenge to use turquoise or teal.

I realize that here in the United States it might seem strange to have a “mother” card in late February, since Mother’s Day isn’t until May.  But now is the time for me to start making Mother’s Day cards to send to Operation Write Home so the troops have time to send them back home for the occasion.  And with the sentiment being worded the way it is, this card could even be used as a birthday card or just as a “thinking of you” type card.

Be sure to visit the CAS – Colours and Sketches blog to see the terrific cards the rest of the design team has made.  I’m sure they’d love it if you left them comments, too.  Then show us what you can do with this sketch!  Link your card to the CAS – Colours and Sketches site by 1:00 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, March 5.  I hope you’ll join in the fun there!

All supplies for this card are from Stampin’ Up.
Stamps: Priceless, Delightful Dozen
Cardstock: Cool Caribbean, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise
Ink: Tempting Turquoise
Other: Beautiful Butterflies die, rhinestones, dimensionals
